Fish Lake Campground is located in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, nestled in old-growth forest adjacent to Fish Lake. At 4,639 feet elevation, the campground offers 17 standard sites that accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents, plus 3 walk-in tent sites. The 483-acre reservoir is fed by over 45 underground volcanic streams and has a 10 mph speed limit.
The campground provides flush toilets with wash basins, drinking water, fish cleaning station, and a boat launch. Fish Lake Resort is within walking distance, offering a convenience store, cafe, and lodging. A historic picnic shelter is available for use without reservations. The southern shore provides views of Mount McLoughlin and is bordered by a 2,000-year-old lava flow from Brown Mountain.
Numerous trails are easily accessible, including Fish Lake Trail, High Lakes Trail, Brown Mountain Trail, and the Pacific Crest Trail. Sky Lakes Wilderness and Mount McLoughlin trail systems are less than an hour away. Nearby attractions include Doe Point and North Fork campgrounds, Lake of the Woods Resort 8 miles east, and Crater Lake National Park 53 miles north. Bears frequent the area.
Directions
From Medford, take Highway 62 towards White City about 8 miles and turn east (right) onto Highway 140. Travel east on Highway 140 for 30.4 miles to the Fish Lake access road to the south (right). Travel 0.5 mile to the campground entrance on the west (right).
