About

Firehole Canyon Campground occupies a prime location on the northeastern shore of Flaming Gorge Reservoir within the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area on Ashley National Forest. The campground sits at 6,300 feet elevation in a high desert environment characterized by scattered Russian olive trees and sagebrush, with minimal shade but stunning views of the reservoir and surrounding red rock formations and bluffs. The campground features paved roads and parking spurs, with each site equipped with a cabana, picnic table, and campfire ring. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, and trash collection. An on-site dump station is available for a fee. Sites accommodate standard RVs but do not offer hookups. Each site allows up to 2 vehicles maximum, with one sleeping unit plus one passenger vehicle or two passenger vehicles. Water activities dominate the recreation opportunities, with an adjacent boat ramp providing direct access to Flaming Gorge Reservoir for fishing, boating, water skiing, and canoeing. A beach area offers swimming access. The reservoir is renowned for its trophy trout fishing and expansive waters.
