About
Buckboard Crossing Campground is situated on the far northwest shore of Flaming Gorge Reservoir within the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area at an elevation of 6,100 feet. The campground sits in a high desert landscape characterized by sagebrush and scattered trees, with minimal natural shade. Weather typically features warm days and cool nights during the operating season. The campground's location next to Buckboard Marina makes it exceptionally convenient for water-based recreation. Fishing, boating, canoeing, water skiing, and swimming are all popular activities on the reservoir. The adjacent marina provides boat rentals, fuel, boat slips, fishing licenses, tackle, and groceries. Additional facilities include a boat ramp, fish cleaning station, and boat pump-out station. Campers enjoy access to flush restrooms with showers, potable water, dump station, and trash collection. The marina's restaurant and bar provide dining options, and non-campers can use shower facilities for a small fee. Nearby attractions include Flaming Gorge Dam, which offers guided tours of the hydroelectric plant, and a visitor center with area history exhibits. The campground is accessible via Highway 530, located 25 miles south from Green River, Wyoming, then 2 miles east on Forest Road 009.
