About

Fawn Lakes Campground occupies a shaded ponderosa pine forest along the Red River in northern New Mexico's Carson National Forest. Located on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway between Questa and Red River, the campground provides easy access to stream fishing and nearby hiking trails including Columbine Trail. The Red River runs adjacent to the campground, offering excellent fishing opportunities. The campground features 18 family sites including 15 standard nonelectric sites and 3 tent-only sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with partial shade from the surrounding forest. Vault toilets and potable water are provided, though there are no hookups. Sites accommodate vehicles up to 34 feet in length with gravel driveways. Note that Fawn Lakes itself has been drained due to dam damage in 2019, with restoration efforts ongoing. The town of Red River is approximately 3 miles east and offers groceries, gas, showers, laundry, and dining. An RV dump station is located within 1 mile of the campground.
