Falkland Farms Hunts

Closed

This is a conservation area for managed hunts, not a campground. The area is not open to the public for camping or general recreation. Managed deer hunts require advance reservations through ReserveVAParks.com with a $15 reservation fee per day.

About

The Falkland State Conservation Area, formerly known as Falkland Farms, is a 3,470-acre property acquired by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation in 2022. Located in Halifax County, it connects to the western border of Staunton River State Park and is just south of Difficult Creek Natural Area Preserve. The area is not yet open to the public for general recreation. Currently, the only public access is through managed deer hunts conducted to control the deer population. Virginia State Parks and Natural Heritage jointly manage the property, focusing on forest management, invasive species control, and prescribed fire programs. Future plans include developing multi-use trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, with over 40 miles of streams and extensive wetlands to explore. However, no camping facilities exist at this location. Those seeking camping should visit nearby Staunton River State Park, which offers established campgrounds and cabins.

Directions

Falkland Farms is located at 1003 Falkland Landing, Scottsburg, VA 24589. From Scottsburg, head east on VA-344 E for approximately 3 miles, then turn right onto Falkland Landing and continue for about 1 mile to reach the property.
