This is an infographic that has been created to list the things you need to complete before you check into your reservation. Step number one, you need to stop by the gatehouse to check in. Step number two, you need to have your reservation number, vehicle license plate number and if you have an America the Beautiful pass, we will need to see your ID. About

Buffalo Park is a small seasonal campground located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, this facility offers 11 campsites with electric and water hookups, providing both shaded wooded sites and open field sites for varied camping preferences. The campground sits at the scenic confluence where the Roanoke (Staunton) River meets the Dan River. The reservoir itself is a 50,000-acre lake created in 1952 with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties in Virginia and North Carolina, offering extensive recreation opportunities. Kerr Lake is renowned for fishing, with healthy populations of largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish. The surrounding public lands provide year-round opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, birding, and hunting (with appropriate state licenses) for species including whitetail deer, wild turkey, and waterfowl. Buffalo Park includes a picnic shelter with views overlooking the lake. The day use area remains open year-round, while the campground operates seasonally. The facility is located about 10 miles west of Clarksville, Virginia, the only town situated directly on Kerr Lake. Nearby Buffalo Springs Park, approximately 7 miles away, is listed on the Virginia State and National Historic Sites and was once a world-renowned source of bottled lithia waters.
