Nestled within Cuivre River State Park's 6,394 acres, the Equestrian Campground caters specifically to horse enthusiasts exploring Missouri's scenic terrain. The facility offers 13 reservable campsites, with 8 providing electric hookups and 5 basic non-electric sites. All sites feature picnic tables and fire rings. The campground includes centrally located vault toilets and potable water for convenience. Guests must camp with horses to occupy these sites. The park features approximately 16 miles of horse-friendly trails divided into two main loops, traversing forested hills of oak and hickory, steep valleys, restored prairies, glades, and the lush floodplain of Big Sugar Creek. Scenic overlooks from Frenchman's Bluff provide stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. The campground operates year-round with full reservation capability up to 12 months in advance through the Missouri State Parks system. During the off-season (November 1 through April 14), potable water remains available from the frost-free spigot at Campsite 69. Firewood and ice can be purchased during the on-season at check station hours, while firewood is available through the campground host or park office during off-season. The campground gate closes at 10 p.m. during on-season and 8 p.m. in off-season. Camping is limited to any 15 days within a 30-consecutive-day period.
