About
Located in Wildwood, Missouri, Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park preserves 2,441 acres of rugged Ozark terrain just 20 miles west of downtown St. Louis. The campground sits within narrow coves and sheltered valleys, surrounded by century-old forests that support diverse wildlife. Historic Civilian Conservation Corps structures from the 1930s add architectural interest throughout the park. The campground completed extensive renovations in 2025, modernizing 35 sites with full hookups including sewer, water, and 50-amp electrical service on concrete pads. Three ADA-accessible sites feature full hookups, extended-end tables, and pedestal grills connected by concrete pathways. A centralized showerhouse with modern restrooms operates during the on-season, while an accessible vault toilet in the lower loop serves off-season campers. Beyond camping, the park offers over 13 miles of hiking trails, dedicated equestrian trails, and paved bicycle paths. The River Hills Visitor Center features exhibits on local ecosystems and a gift shop. The Jacob L. Babler Outdoor Education Center provides facilities for organized groups with special needs.
