About
Elkhorn Campground sits on the northern end of Glendo State Park, offering 9 undeveloped campsites near the seasonal boat ramp and courtesy dock. The campground's prime location provides the closest boat access to the North Platte River inlet and canyon, making it a sought-after destination during spring when reservoir levels peak. Sites 4-9 are positioned along a cottonwood tree line offering some shade, while sites 2 and 3 are more exposed. The campground is primitive in nature with no hookups. A single vault toilet serves the area, located in the boat ramp parking lot about a quarter-mile from sites 1-2. Seasonal water is available when the campground operates. Site 3 features an ADA-compliant camping pad. Access to the boat ramp typically begins in late April or early May depending on water levels. However, as reservoir levels drop through summer, the ramp and dock often become unusable by mid-July, at which point the campground transitions to first-come, first-served status for the remainder of the season.
Directions
