Cross Timbers State Park sits on the northern shore of Toronto Reservoir, offering a blend of rolling tallgrass prairie and the distinctive Cross Timbers forest ecosystem characterized by ancient post oak and blackjack oak trees. The park provides numerous access points to the 2,800-acre lake, making it popular for fishing, boating, and swimming. Multiple campground areas including Toronto Point, Timber Ridge, Osage Plains, Mann's Cove, and Blackjack Campground offer sites ranging from primitive to full utility hookups. The park features 19 full utility sites (water/electric/sewer), 50 water/electric sites, 8 electric-only sites, and 96 primitive campsites. Most campground loops are served by modern bathrooms with shower facilities, while Mann's Cove and some remote loops have vault toilets. A dump station is available at Toronto Point. Four rustic cabins offer year-round lodging with lake views. Notable attractions include the Ancient Tree Trail featuring post oaks over 500 years old, a swimming beach, playground areas, and an ADA-accessible fishing pier. The park serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding Flint Hills region.

From Toronto, Kansas, head south on US-54 for approximately 2 miles, then turn west on 1400 Road to reach the park entrance.
