Damsite - Fall River Lake

Open

Open April 1 through October 31. Reservations available through Recreation.gov. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights.

About

Damsite Campground occupies a scenic location directly below the Fall River Lake dam and spillway, where Fall River flows through the rolling Flint Hills prairie of southeastern Kansas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District, the campground provides 13 reservable sites across two loops: Damsite West and Damsite East. The loops are separated by a river bridge with limited clearance and weight restrictions, so larger RVs and trailers should use the appropriate entrance to avoid the bridge crossing. Site amenities vary: two premium sites offer 50-amp electric with water hookups, six sites have 30-amp electric with water, and five sites provide water hookups only. All sites include fire rings and picnic tables. Campground facilities include vault toilets, potable drinking water, and a playground. The lake itself spans 15 miles up the Fall River valley, offering boating, swimming, water skiing, and quality fishing for white bass, bluegill, crappie, green sunfish, and channel catfish. Birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts can explore the adjacent 8,000-acre public wildlife area, home to prairie chickens, wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, waterfowl, and quail. Fall River State Park is nearby for additional hiking and canoeing opportunities along the river.
