BRIDGE CLOSURE BELOW DAM SPILLWAY: Greenwood County Board of Commissioners owns, operates and maintains the bridge below Fall River Dam that connects Damsite East to Damsite West Campgrounds. The Board of Commissioners has decided to permanently close this bridge to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic. This will not prevent access to the Campgrounds, and both Damsite East and Damsite West Campgrounds can be accessed via Lake Road.
About
Damsite campground sits along Fall River directly below the Fall River Dam spillway in Greenwood County, Kansas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this 13-site campground offers a mix of accommodations ranging from full hookup sites to water-only options. The campground is divided into East and West sections, accessible via Lake Road following the permanent closure of the connecting bridge below the dam spillway. The sites include two 50-amp electric and water sites, six 30-amp electric and water sites, and five water-only sites. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water, and a playground for families. Fall River Lake stretches 15 miles upstream through rolling prairies and tree-dotted valleys, providing excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, jet skiing, and swimming. Anglers find productive fishing for white bass, bluegill, crappie, green sunfish, and channel catfish. The adjacent 8,000-acre public wildlife area hosts prairie chickens, various waterfowl species, rabbits, wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, doves, and quail. The scenic landscape of limestone-capped ridges and native vegetation makes this a prime location for wildlife viewing and nature photography.

From US Highway 400, turn left (north) at mile marker 344 (Z 50 Rd) for 0.09 miles, turn right (east) for 2.4 miles, then turn right (south) at entrance to park.
