About

Egin Lakes Campground sits at the gateway to the St. Anthony Sand Dunes, a 10,600-acre expanse of shifting white quartz sand that forms Idaho's largest dune complex. The campground features 48 developed sites, each equipped with electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings. Twenty-six sites are reservable through Recreation.gov, while 22 remain first-come, first-served. The facility includes potable water hydrants, six double vault toilets, an RV dump station, and designated areas for day use, overflow parking, and equestrian trailers. The campground serves primarily as a staging area for OHV enthusiasts exploring the vast dune system, which stretches approximately 20 miles long and 5 miles wide with dunes ranging from 50 to 400 feet high. The famous Deadhorse Bowl, a sand bowl one mile in circumference and 400 feet deep, is a major attraction. Beyond motorized recreation, the area offers opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, fat tire biking, and wildlife viewing. The dunes harbor unique species including the Saint Anthony evening primrose and are surrounded by sagebrush habitat supporting sage-grouse, elk, mule deer, and moose. Summer temperatures can cause sand to exceed 100 degrees, making spring and fall the preferred seasons for most visitors.
