About

West End Dispersed Camping sits along the western shore of Island Park Reservoir, approximately 60 miles north of Rexburg in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The reservoir covers 8,400 acres and supports fishing, motorized boating, and water skiing. A boat ramp is available at West End, making it a convenient staging point for reservoir recreation. As a dispersed camping area, West End provides no developed facilities. There are no restrooms, potable water, trash service, or established campsites with amenities. Campers must bring all supplies and pack out all waste following Leave No Trace principles. Campsites should be located at least 100 feet from water sources and human waste must be disposed of at least 200 feet from water, trails, and camps. The standard 14-day stay limit applies within a 28-day period, after which campers must relocate at least 5 road miles away. Campfires are permitted using only dead and down wood from the ground, and fires must be fully extinguished before leaving.
