About

Kelly Island Campground sits in a scenic cottonwood gallery forest along the South Fork of the Snake River, approximately 23 miles northeast of Idaho Falls. The campground offers views of the Snake River Range foothills and provides excellent access to trout fishing on the South Fork, which is renowned as one of Idaho's premier wild trout fisheries. The campground has 14 single campsites available first-come, first-served, plus one group site that accommodates 30-35 people and 4 large RVs. Amenities include pull-through sites, vault toilets, a central water spigot, fire pits, picnic tables, and a day-use area. Seasonal camp hosts are present. There are no electrical hookups, and ATVs are not permitted to ride within the campground, though OHV opportunities exist nearby. The surrounding area offers hiking, boating, and wildlife viewing in addition to the fishing. Access is via a gravel road after crossing Heise Bridge and continuing past Kelly Canyon.

Directions

From Idaho Falls, drive approximately 23 miles northeast. Cross Heise Bridge and continue toward Kelly Canyon. After 2.3 miles, continue straight onto the gravel road as the paved road veers left toward Kelly Canyon. Drive one-half mile and turn right at the Kelly Island Campground sign.
