Please be aware of the recent outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1) in Waco, TX. Visitors should be aware of this and know that USACE is not cleaning corrals between visitors to prevent the spread. It will be the responsibility of the visitor to clean their stalls prior to use. The attached link is a fact sheet about the signs and transmission of EHV-1 from the Texas Animal Health Commission. About

Ebenezer Park stands out as the only Army Corps of Engineers facility on Sam Rayburn Reservoir that accommodates equestrian camping, making it the premier destination for horse owners in southeast Texas. The park features 13 dedicated equestrian campsites, each equipped with electric hookups and horse corrals that can accommodate up to two horses per site. Additional tent-only sites are available for non-equestrian campers. A negative Coggin's Test is required for all horses. The horseback riding trails are among the most beautiful in the region, featuring soft, sandy terrain that eliminates the need for horseshoes. Trails meander through rolling hills, cross creeks and gullies, and wind through towering pine forests. Some trails even provide beach access where riders and horses can cool off. While 1.5 miles of trails are on Corps property, the majority extend into the adjacent Angelina National Forest, offering over 20 miles of riding opportunities. Beyond equestrian activities, the park offers a designated swim beach open seasonally from April 1st through Labor Day, fishing access to Sam Rayburn Reservoir, and excellent birding opportunities including resident wood ducks and migratory species traveling to and from the Gulf Coast. The campground sits near the Sam Rayburn Dam, fully shaded by mature pines and bordered by the Angelina and Sabine National Forests. Ebenezer Hall, an enclosed building with a full kitchen, air conditioning, and heating, is available for group rentals.
