The pavilion overlooks the nine-acre Boykin Springs Lake and can accommodate groups of up to 74 people. This is a day-use facility only; overnight camping is not permitted at the shelter. The shelter provides access to the Sawmill Hiking Trail, which winds through pine and hardwood forest to the Aldridge Sawmill Historical Site. Boykin Springs Lake offers fishing opportunities with non-motorized boats only. The surrounding area is a notable birding destination, especially during migratory seasons. Day-use visitors have access to nearby restroom facilities with flush toilets and hot showers. Potable drinking water is available throughout the recreation area. The pavilion must be reserved in advance through Recreation.gov at $25 per day.
