About

East Creek Campground offers a quiet, high-elevation escape in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest southwest of Dillon, Montana. Sitting at approximately 7,000 feet, this small campground has just four sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground is free for single-site use, with a $50 fee for the group site. Facilities are basic but functional: vault toilets, picnic tables, and bear-resistant food storage boxes are provided. Potable water is available only from June through September. There is no garbage service, so campers must pack out all trash. The access road (Forest Road 3930) is not plowed in winter. This is a true off-grid destination with no cell phone coverage. The maximum recommended trailer length is 16 feet, making it best suited for tent campers and those with small trailers. The area offers hiking opportunities and scenic mountain views that campers frequently praise.

Directions

From Dillon, take Interstate 15 south for about 48 miles to Lima. Turn north on Frontage Road for 0.8 mile. Take Forest Road 179 west for 7 miles. Turn south on Forest Road 3929 for 0.5 miles, then southeast on Forest Road 3930 and continue 1.5 miles to the campground.
