New Group Area Fire Ring

Stoddard Creek Campground

Closed

Closed for the season. Opens late May 2026 with reservations available through Recreation.gov. After the managed season ends in early September, the campground remains open first-come, first-served with no fee, but toilets and water are not available.

About

Stoddard Creek Campground is tucked into a Douglas fir and aspen forest at 6,300 feet elevation in Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The campground sits approximately 11 miles south of the Idaho-Montana border via Monida Pass on the Continental Divide. Stoddard Creek flows just below the sites, providing a peaceful backdrop and fishing opportunities. The campground offers 20 single-family sites and one group site that accommodates up to 50 people. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Gravel roads and parking spurs handle RVs and trailers comfortably. During the operating season, vault toilets, potable drinking water via a solar-powered system with limited capacity, trash collection, and a campground host are available. The area draws visitors for fishing, hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling, and ATV riding. The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail crosses I-15 about eight miles away. Basic supplies are available five miles away in Spencer or 17 miles away in Dubois.

Directions

From Dubois, Idaho, travel north on I-15 to the Stoddard Creek Exit (Exit 184). Go west on Stoddard Creek Road (FR 002) for approximately one mile to Stoddard Creek Campground Road (FR 003), then turn left into the campground.
