About
Dorabelle Campground is a popular family destination in Sierra National Forest, located in the town of Shaver Lake at 5,500 feet elevation. The 68-site campground spreads across two loops, offering a variety of settings from heavily shaded sites beneath fir, cedar, and pine trees to more open sites with views of Shaver Lake. Each site features a dirt parking spur, picnic table, fire ring with grill, and accommodates vehicles up to 40 feet. The campground serves as an excellent base for the area's diverse recreation. Five hiking trails depart directly from camp: Dinkey Road (0.5 mi), Musick Meadow (0.75 mi), Peninsula Loop (1 mi), Burr Meadow (1.5 mi), and Osprey Cove (2 mi). A boat launch is nearby, and boats can be moored close to camp. Shaver Lake supports kokanee salmon, rainbow trout, brown trout, smallmouth bass, catfish, and bluegill. Swimming, kayaking, water skiing, and jet skiing are popular. Vault toilets and drinking water from a hand pump are provided. A campground host is on site. Maximum stay is 14 days with a limit of 6 people per site. Two pets per site are allowed, leashed at all times. Weekend stays require a 2-night minimum; holidays require 3 nights.
Directions
From Clovis, take Highway 168 north for 49 miles to the town of Shaver Lake. Turn right on Dorabelle Road (just after the gas station and mini mart) and travel 0.5 miles to the campground. Registration is at the campground entry station.
