About
Big Sandy Campground is located at the north end of the Big Sandy Opening along Big Sandy Creek, approximately 60 miles southeast of Pinedale, Wyoming at 9,100 feet elevation. This smaller primitive campground features 4 sites in the main loop and an additional site near the Stock Trailhead for visitors with horses. The campground is situated adjacent to Big Sandy Trailhead, which provides access to some of the most popular destinations in the Bridger Wilderness, including the spectacular Cirque of the Towers. As a primitive facility, campers should come prepared. No drinking water is available and visitors are required to pack out all trash. Vault toilets are provided. Proper food storage is required due to bear activity in the area. Popular activities include backpacking, day hiking, fishing in Big Sandy Creek and nearby lakes, hunting, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and photography. Horse corrals are available at the stock trailhead area.
