About
Devils Canyon Campground was once a developed camping facility in the Tonto National Forest near Superior, Arizona, located in the scenic Pinal Mountains at approximately 4,200 feet elevation. The site has been officially decommissioned by the U.S. Forest Service and is no longer available for camping. The Devils Canyon area itself remains a popular destination for outdoor recreation, including technical canyoneering, rock climbing, and hiking. The canyon is located near Oak Flat Campground, which continues to operate as a free, first-come, first-served campground with vault toilets and picnic tables. Devils Canyon is known for its dramatic rock formations, deep gorges, and challenging technical routes that attract experienced adventurers. Visitors seeking camping in this area should instead use Oak Flat Campground, located about 4 miles east of Superior on Highway 60. Dispersed camping may also be available in the surrounding Tonto National Forest following Leave No Trace principles and forest regulations.
