About
Delaware State Park Campground sits along a 1,300-acre reservoir created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1951. The campground features 214 sites suitable for tents and RVs, with 211 sites offering electric hookups. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, laundry facilities, and a dump station. A group camp accommodates organized youth groups, and two Rent-A-Yurt units are available for reservation. The park preserves a diverse second-growth forest of beech and maple, interspersed with meadows and wetlands that support abundant wildlife including white-tailed deer, fox squirrels, and over 200 bird species. The 1,300-acre reservoir permits boating with unlimited horsepower and offers excellent fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, saugeye, and white bass. An 800-foot public beach provides swimming access with a bathhouse and concession. Seven miles of trails connect the four camping areas to the lakeshore, traversing woodlands, meadows, and wetlands. The adjacent 4,670-acre Delaware Wildlife Area provides additional hunting and fishing opportunities. Winter activities include ice fishing, cross-country skiing, sledding, and ice skating when conditions permit. The park is located on U.S. Route 23, five miles north of Delaware and 30 miles north of Columbus.
