About

North Branch Kokosing River Lake Campground is a US Army Corps of Engineers facility located about 15 minutes north of Mount Vernon, just west of Fredericktown, Ohio. The campground sits on the shores of a quiet 154-acre fishing lake created in 1970 by impounding the headwaters of the north branch of the Kokosing River for flood control, recreation, and wildlife management. The campground offers approximately 42 electric sites that accommodate both tents and RVs, providing lakefront camping opportunities in a peaceful setting. The lake enforces a 10-hp motor limit, creating an ideal environment for fishing and paddling. A two-lane boat launch near the picnic area provides access to the water. Wildlife is abundant in the area, and hunting is permitted during designated seasons. The campground includes a shower house with flush toilets, and firewood and supplies are available at the campground headquarters. The facility is operated by the Fredericktown Recreation District in cooperation with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Access is via State Route 13 north to Waterford Road, with the campground located about 2.5 miles from the junction.

Directions

From Fredericktown, take State Route 13 north to Waterford Road. Turn right on Waterford Road and continue for about 2.5 miles. The campground is on the right, approximately 0.5 miles past the dam.
