About

North Branch Kokosing River Lake Campground occupies the western shore of Kokosing Lake, a 185-acre reservoir created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1972 for flood control, recreation, and wildlife management. The campground is operated by the Fredericktown Recreation District and provides a quiet setting about 15 minutes north of Mount Vernon in central Ohio's Knox County. The facility has around 46 campsites, including primitive tent sites, standard back-in electric sites, and lakefront electric sites. Most sites have 30-amp electric hookups. A recently updated shower house with flush toilets and baby-changing stations serves campers, and vault toilets are also available. The campground offers an RV dump station, playground, and a two-lane boat ramp for lake access. Ice, snacks, and firewood can be purchased at the campground office. Kokosing Lake is stocked with largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, carp, bullhead, and channel catfish. Boat motors are limited to 10 hp or idle speed, making it a peaceful destination for anglers and paddlers. Hunting is permitted in designated areas during season. The surrounding wildlife area supports abundant wildlife observation opportunities throughout the camping season.
