About
Alum Creek Group Campground is situated within the expansive Alum Creek State Park in Delaware County, just minutes north of Columbus. The park spans 4,630 land acres surrounding a 3,387-acre reservoir managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The group campground provides designated camping areas for organized groups, scouts, large families, and friends seeking a shared camping experience. The group camping area is part of a larger park system that includes 286 individual campsites, making Alum Creek one of Ohio's most popular camping destinations. Group campers have access to the campground's exclusive amenities, including a private beach area and boat launch reserved for overnight guests. Each group site features electricity and water hookups, with centrally located bathhouses offering hot showers and flush toilets. Beyond camping, the park offers extensive recreational opportunities including boating and water skiing on the reservoir's southern section, fishing from boats or shore, swimming at the massive 3,000-foot beach, and exploring 40 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The park's second-growth forest provides scenic wooded areas mixed with open meadows and lake views. Winter recreation includes ice fishing and ice skating when conditions permit.
