About

Deer Haven Campground is situated at 8,900 feet elevation in Dixie National Forest, high on the western edge of the Colorado Plateau near Cedar City, Utah. The peaceful campground is surrounded by an open stand of towering aspen and pine trees, with abundant summer wildflowers throughout the site. Designed primarily to accommodate group organizations, the campground features one large group area for family reunions, youth groups, and church organizations accommodating up to 200 people, as well as 10 single campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis. The 34-mile Virgin River Rim Trail passes near the campground entrance and is open to hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Deer Haven is just 11 miles from Cedar Breaks National Monument, offering breathtaking scenery, hiking trails, and guided tours. Just outside Cedar Breaks is the Ashdown Gorge Wilderness Area, where hikers will find 10 miles of trails and the Twisted Forest, a stand of ancient bristlecone pine. Navajo Lake and Duck Lake are both within 30 minutes, offering boating, canoeing, and fishing opportunities. The Duck Creek/Markagunt ATV Trail System begins nearby, though OHVs and ATVs are only allowed in the campground for ingress and egress. The campground provides flush and vault toilets, and drinking water piped from a spring (available Memorial Day through Labor Day, though supply is limited and conservation is urged). All campsites have picnic tables and fire rings. There is no garbage disposal, so campers must pack out all trash. The maximum stay is 14 days, and quiet hours are observed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
