About
Pyramid Ridge Campground sits at just over 6,000 feet on the south edge of Cedar City, delivering a remote, backcountry atmosphere while remaining minutes from I-15 and town amenities. The campground takes its name from the striking red, orange, and yellow sandstone monoliths that tower above, contrasting sharply with the surrounding pinyon-juniper forest. Sunrise and sunset views here are exceptional. The campground serves as one of the primary trailheads for the Iron Hills Trail System. The Turnpike Trail leaves directly from camp, providing hikers, mountain bikers, and trail runners access to almost 30 miles of professionally constructed singletrack that has helped establish Cedar City as a premier mountain biking destination. Each of the standard nonelectric sites accommodates up to 8 people and 2 vehicles, with a large picnic table, fire ring with optional cooking grate, and at least one tent pad. Select sites handle vehicles up to 50 feet. Potable water is not available; campers must bring their own. A vault toilet and dumpster are provided. Gathering firewood is prohibited. Zion National Park is one hour away; Bryce Canyon is about 1.5 hours.
