About

Pyramid Ridge Campground sits at just over 6,000 feet above sea level and looks out to a backdrop of the red rock pyramids along the Hurricane Cliffs. This campground gives visitors a remote backcountry feel while only being a few minutes drive from I-15 and the amenities of Cedar City. The campground is located 3.4 miles outside of the south end of town and serves as one of the trailheads to the Iron Hills Trail System. The Iron Hills Trail System began as just a 5 mile loop and has since grown into almost 30 miles of high quality mountain bike trails. While riders from all over the country have begun to travel to Cedar City to ride these trails, hikers, dog walkers, and nature lovers of all sorts will enjoy them as well. The Turnpike Trail leads straight out of the campground, providing access to almost 30 miles of professionally constructed singletrack. Almost all of the trails have played a big role in Cedar City emerging as a premier mountain biking destination. Nestled into the base of the mountain, Pyramid Ridge Campground gets its name from the geologic features that tower above it. Large sandstone monoliths emerge out of the mountain in multiple locations, adding beautiful red, orange and yellow contrast to the green pinyon-juniper forest that blankets the mountain side. Temperatures typically remain cool in spring and late fall with lows approaching or below freezing, while summer temperatures often reach 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit. The campground is only one hour from Zion National Park and just over 1.5 hours from Bryce Canyon National Park.
