About
Day Run Campground sits along the upper Williams River just off the Highland Scenic Highway in Monongahela National Forest. This small 12-site campground offers a rustic getaway for fishermen and hikers seeking a quieter forest experience. Many campsites border the scenic Williams River, where anglers can test their skills on wily trout in scattered deep pools. The campground serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring nearby trails, including the Tea Creek trail system and Cranberry Wilderness. Each campsite is equipped with a wooden picnic table, lantern post, and fire ring. Several sites include tent pads, though all sites accommodate tent or trailer camping. Small to midsize camping trailers fit at most sites. The campground provides vault toilets, trash service, and a hand water pump for drinking water. Sites are partially shaded and located in a peaceful forest setting. The Highland Scenic Highway, a 43-mile national scenic byway, provides a stunning drive through the Allegheny Highlands and Plateau, climbing from 2,325 feet to over 4,500 feet. Four scenic overlooks offer panoramic mountain views. Day Run Campground is particularly popular during spring fishing and turkey season, as well as fall hunting season.
