About

Day Run Campground is a small developed campground located along the upper scenic Williams River in the heart of Monongahela National Forest, just four miles off the Highland Scenic Highway. The campground features 12 individual campsites, many of which border the river, providing a peaceful setting for fishing and enjoying the water. Each site is equipped with a wooden picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post, with several sites also featuring tent pads. The Williams River near Day Run contains scattered deep pools that attract trout fishermen, and the river eventually flows toward Tea Creek and on to Cowen where it joins the Gauley River. The campground serves as an excellent basecamp for hikers and trail users, with the Tea Creek trail system and Cranberry Wilderness located nearby. Day Run stays busy during spring fishing and turkey season as well as in the fall hunting season. The campground is situated along the Highland Scenic Highway, a 43-mile National Scenic Byway that traverses the mountainous terrain of the Allegheny Highlands and Plateau, rising from 2,325 feet in Richwood to more than 4,500 feet at Black Mountain, with four scenic overlooks providing panoramic views.
