About

Chicopee Memorial State Park covers 562 acres in the Burnett Road neighborhood of Chicopee, Massachusetts, directly southeast of Westover Air Reserve Base. The park was developed from the former Cooley Brook Reservoir and Watershed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, which operated Camp 1156 on site from 1935 to 1937. The centerpiece of the park is a 25-acre pond that provides opportunities for swimming and fishing during the warmer months. The park features camping facilities that are managed through the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation's reservation system. Picnic areas are available throughout the park for day use. Year-round, visitors can enjoy the park's network of hiking and biking trails that wind through the 562-acre property. The park serves as a popular outdoor recreation destination for both residents of the greater Springfield area and visitors exploring central Massachusetts.
