About
Damsite Texas is a relatively small U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground consisting of 19 campsites, all equipped with 30 amp electric service and water hookups. Located directly along the Texas side of the Red River below Denison Dam, the campground offers shaded sites under a canopy of pecan trees. Day visitors can enjoy picnic tables and a pavilion near the entrance without paying for overnight camping.
The location provides exceptional fishing access to both the Red River and Lake Texoma. The Red River is home to striped bass, blue catfish, channel catfish, alligator gar, and occasionally American paddlefish. Just beyond the Denison Dam lies Lake Texoma, dubbed the Striper Capital of the World and one of the few reservoirs where striped bass reproduce naturally. The lake also offers excellent fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, and catfish. A popular boat ramp at the spillway provides access to Lake Texoma for boating, swimming, and water skiing.
Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with deer, turkeys, bobcats, hawks, waterfowl, and songbirds commonly seen around the river. The campground features vault toilets and a dump station, with restaurants and stores available within 5 miles.
