Buncombe Creek Campground occupies a primarily shaded peninsula on the Oklahoma side of Lake Texoma, a large USACE reservoir straddling the Texas-Oklahoma border. The campground is divided into three loops (A, B, and C), with Area C offering superior restroom facilities including showers. Each of the 54 sites provides water and electric hookups, a gravel tent pad, picnic table, and fire ring. Some sites sit directly on the waterfront. Lake Texoma is known as the "Striper Capital of the World" due to its naturally reproducing striped bass population. Anglers also target largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white bass, crappie, and catfish. Two boat ramps and a dock provide lake access directly from the campground, and Buncombe Creek Marina nearby offers a restaurant and striper fishing guides. The Cross Timbers hiking trail traverses 14 miles of rocky ledges and blackjack oak woodland above the lake. Forty miles of equestrian trails also surround the reservoir. Wildlife including deer, turkeys, bobcats, and waterfowl are abundant in the post oak and blackjack oak forests of the region.

From Madill, OK, travel south on Highway 99 for 17 miles to Willis, OK, then east for one mile on paved access road.
