About

Buncombe Creek Campground is located on the northern side of Lake Texoma in Oklahoma's Cross Timbers Region. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this well-maintained facility provides access to one of the Southwest's premier recreation lakes. The campground features three loops (A, B, and C) nestled among post and blackjack oaks on rolling hills above the lake. Lake Texoma is renowned as the Striper Capital of the World, one of the few reservoirs in the nation where striped bass reproduce naturally. Anglers also target largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, white crappie, black crappie, channel catfish, and blue catfish. The lake offers numerous boat ramps, sandy beaches for swimming, and opportunities for water skiing and boating. The scenic Cross Timbers hiking trail winds for 14 miles above the lake on rocky ledges and through blackjack woodland, while 40 miles of equestrian trails surround the lake. Wildlife is abundant, with frequent sightings of deer, turkeys, bobcats, hawks, waterfowl, and songbirds. The campground provides a comfortable base for exploring the lake's two wildlife refuges, two state parks, and numerous recreation areas.
