About
Caney Creek Campground occupies a scenic position on the northern shore of Lake Texoma, one of the largest reservoirs in the southwestern United States. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground sits within Oklahoma's distinctive Cross Timbers region, where post oak and blackjack oak woodlands blanket rolling hills above the lake. The area supports abundant wildlife including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bobcats, and diverse waterfowl. The campground offers 51 sites spread across two loops. Loop A contains 41 sites with electric and water hookups suitable for RVs and trailers, while Loop B provides 10 basic tent-only sites without hookups. Most sites are shaded and include covered picnic tables. A group day-use shelter with electricity accommodates larger gatherings. Facilities include flush and vault toilets, hot showers, potable water, and an RV dump station. Lake Texoma draws anglers from across the region, renowned for its naturally reproducing striped bass population along with largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, crappie, and channel catfish. A boat ramp with dock provides direct lake access. The 14-mile Cross Timbers hiking trail traverses rocky ledges above the lake, and 40 miles of equestrian trails surround the reservoir.
