About

Crooked River Campground occupies a scenic spot on Silver Lake within the Croom Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest. The 23 tent-only sites each include a water spigot, picnic table, and fire ring with grate. A central bathhouse provides restroom and shower facilities. Generators and chainsaws are prohibited, preserving the natural quiet of this forested setting. The campground offers direct access to the Withlacoochee River for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. A boat ramp is available nearby. The Withlacoochee State Trail passes through the area, providing miles of paved trail for hiking and cycling. Wildlife viewing and birding are popular activities, and a horseshoe pit adds a recreational option. During hunting seasons, campers hiking the trails should wear at least 500 square inches of blaze orange. Firewood is available on-site via donation to Friends of Florida State Forests. Reservations are made through Reserve America, with bookings available up to 11 months in advance.
