About
Dillon Creek Campground is situated in a forest of mixed hardwoods and conifers at an elevation of 1,780 feet in the Siskiyou Mountains of northern California. The roar of cascading Dillon Creek provides a peaceful atmosphere, while the nearby Klamath River offers excellent opportunities for fishing, swimming, and whitewater rafting. The Klamath and Salmon Rivers are renowned for salmon and steelhead fishing during fall and early winter months, considered among the finest in California. The campsites are carved into the mountain slopes, offering sheltered, shaded spots with privacy. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. The campground provides vault toilets and typically has drinking water available, though water availability can vary based on spring flow. A natural swimming hole near the campground is accessible via a winding path. Bear-proof garbage containers remind visitors they are in riparian habitat with diverse wildlife. The area also offers hunting opportunities for blacktail deer, black bear, blue grouse, and quail. Nearby activities include visiting Oogaromtok (Frog Pond) and taking the scenic drive to Nordheimer Flat up the Salmon River Road. River access to the Klamath is available across Highway 96 from the campground via a short foot trail to the confluence of Dillon Creek and the Klamath River.
