The campground sits adjacent to Stone Reservoir in an open desert environment dotted with sagebrush and very few trees, with mowed lawns throughout and limited natural shade. The area is renowned for year-round birding, with species including Sage Thrasher, Vesper Sparrow, Brewer's Sparrow, Ash-throated Flycatcher, and Scott's Oriole. Sharp-tailed grouse are best viewed in March and April. Near Stone Reservoir, visitors can spot Redhead, Ring-necked duck, Canvasback, and Lesser Scaup, with Canada and Snow geese arriving in fall. Stone Reservoir offers fishing and swimming opportunities, with anglers catching rainbow trout, largemouth bass, perch, and crappie. The surrounding area is crisscrossed by numerous off-road vehicle trails, and horseback riding is allowed on the open range. The campground features a large group site accommodating up to 200 people, several individual sites, and one triple-family site. Most sites include small picnic shelters for shade. Site 14 is ADA accessible with a cement pad and paved parking spur.
