About
Crystal & Twin Lakes campground sits within Curt Gowdy State Park, a 3,395-acre recreation area in the foothills of the Laramie Mountains between Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming. The campground provides convenient access to Crystal Reservoir, the smallest of the park's three reservoirs, offering excellent shoreline fishing for brown trout, rainbow trout, and kokanee salmon. Boating is permitted with a 15 horsepower motor limit, making it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and small watercraft. The park's seven sections of varied landscape feature low-lying meadows, gently rolling hills, and massive granite formations at elevations ranging from 6,450 to over 7,500 feet. Wildlife is abundant, including white-tailed deer, mule deer, and a variety of bird species. The park has earned recognition for its IMBA-certified mountain bike trail system and offers excellent hiking opportunities. Additional amenities include an archery range, amphitheater, and the historic Hynds Lodge listed on the National Register. Camping is available year-round with most sites reservable May 15 through September 30 and first-come, first-served the rest of the year. Water in campgrounds is shut off for winter on October 1st, though showers and flush toilets remain available at the visitor center. The park is easily accessible via State Route 210 (Happy Jack Road) at the crossroads of I-80 and I-25.
