About
Established in the 1930s, Ricker Pond State Park occupies a scenic setting on the western shore of Ricker Pond in Vermont's Groton State Forest. The 56-site campground features 14 tent-only sites, 12 tent/RV sites, 23 lean-tos, 5 cabins with electricity, and 2 cottages with electricity. Two of the three restroom buildings include coin-operated hot showers alongside flush toilets with hot and cold running water. Drinking water spigots are distributed throughout the campground. The park offers a sandy swimming beach, cartop boat launch, and rentals for canoes, kayaks, and rowboats. Anglers can fish directly from the pond. A nature center provides interpretive programs during the camping season. The campground connects to miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, including direct access to the Montpelier-Wells Rail Trail, which forms part of the Cross Vermont Trail. No hookups are available, but an RV dump station serves self-contained units. Firewood and ice are sold on-site. Bears are active in this park, so campers must securely store food and trash. Pets are allowed on leash throughout the park except at the swimming beach.
