About

Crowders Mountain State Park provides a true backcountry camping experience just outside the Charlotte metropolitan area. The campground consists of 10 primitive family sites accommodating up to 6 people each, 8 group sites for larger parties of 10-26 people, and 2 dedicated hammock-only sites. All camping requires a 1-mile hike from the visitor center parking area, making this a pack-in destination unsuitable for RVs or car camping. Family sites are equipped with a grill, picnic table, and two tent pads. Group sites feature fire rings with grills and three picnic tables. Vault toilets and drinking water spigots serve the campground, but there are no showers or bathhouse facilities. Firewood is available for purchase at the visitor center, though campers must pack in all other supplies. The park encompasses two prominent peaks, Crowders Mountain and Kings Pinnacle, both offering panoramic views stretching to Charlotte's skyline. Beyond camping, visitors can enjoy over 20 miles of hiking trails, rock climbing at the Linwood Road access, bouldering, fishing, and paddling. ADA-accessible campsites are available with vehicle access by arrangement.
