Crowders Mountain State Park

Open — The campground is currently open for reservations year-round. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance. Campers are limited to 14 consecutive nights per 30-day period.

Located about 1 mile from the visitor center at Crowders Mountain State Park, this backcountry campground offers secluded, primitive camping accessed only by trail. The facility includes 10 family backpack campsites, each accommodating up to 6 people, with two tent pads, a grill, and a picnic table per site. Group camping is available in sites accommodating 10 to 25 people. All gear and supplies must be packed in by campers. The campground provides drinking water and vault toilets. Firewood is available for purchase at the visitor center for $10 per bundle; outside firewood is not permitted to prevent the spread of invasive species. One family site and one group site are ADA accessible with potential vehicular access. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at noon. Campers must register at the visitor center to receive overnight parking tags.

Directions

From southbound I-85, take exit 13 to Edgewood Road. Turn left onto Edgewood Road, then right onto Franklin Boulevard/Highway 74. After approximately two miles, turn left onto Sparrow Springs Road. Continue for about two miles, then turn right again on Sparrow Springs Road. The main entrance to the park will be on the right in less than one mile. The campground is a 1-mile hike from the visitor center via the Pinnacle Trail, turning right at the campground trail junction.
