About

Chester State Park Campground occupies a forested setting around a 160-acre lake in South Carolina's Piedmont region. The main campground features 25 packed-gravel sites, each equipped with water and 50-amp electrical hookups, fire rings, lantern holders, and picnic tables. Site accommodations vary, with some handling RVs up to 33 feet and three pull-through sites available. Hot showers and flush toilets serve the main campground area, along with an RV dump station. For those seeking a more primitive experience, five hike-in tent sites lie about 0.1 miles from the parking area. Each primitive site includes a water spigot, fire ring/grill, picnic table, and tent pad, with a vault toilet at the trailhead parking area. Beyond camping, the park offers excellent fishing from a 472-foot pier or rented jon boats from the historic CCC-built boathouse. The 1.3-mile Caney Fork Creek Nature Trail winds through the surrounding pine forest, and two disc golf courses (18-hole and 9-hole) provide additional recreation.
