FSR 361 is closed to vehicular traffic between intersection 1069 and E. 164-2 due to a bridge closure. We will update when the repair has been completed.

Leeds Rifle Range temporarily closed on 5/18/26 for road work
Leeds Rifle Range on the Enoree Ranger District will be temporarily closed Monday May 18, 2026, from 0800 to 1200. This closure will allow for road maintenance to be done along FS Road 307. Leeds will reopen after road work is complete.
About
Herbert Campground is situated in Union County, South Carolina, within the Enoree Ranger District of Sumter National Forest. The site is located in the Piedmont region of the forest, which encompasses over 170,000 acres across Newberry, Union, Chester, Laurens, and Fairfield counties. The campground is currently closed and does not appear on official USFS recreation pages or Recreation.gov. It may be a primitive site, hunt camp, or a campground that has been decommissioned. The Enoree Ranger District requires free primitive camping permits for dispersed camping in the area. For current information about this site, contact the Enoree District Office at 803-276-4810.
Directions
From the intersection of Hwy. 72 and Hwy. 215 in Carlisle, drive north 0.3 miles on Hwy. 72. Turn right onto Fishdam Rd. and proceed 0.1 miles. Turn right onto Pickney Street and continue 0.5 miles to the railroad crossing. After crossing the tracks, drive another 0.4 miles. Turn right onto FS Road 404 and drive 0.2 miles to the campground entrance on the right.
