Lake Norman State Park campground occupies a scenic peninsula jutting into North Carolina's largest manmade lake, offering convenient access to both water activities and extensive trail systems. The 44-site campground accommodates tents, trailers, and RVs, with sites 1-32 providing non-electric camping on 15x12-foot tent pads, and sites 34-44 featuring full hookups including 30 and 50 amp electric, water, and sewer connections. Six camper cabins are also available for those preferring a roof overhead. Campground facilities include a bathhouse with flush toilets and hot showers, three potable water spigots, and a dump station available to non-campers for $35. Every site has a picnic table, fire ring with grill cover, and paved parking spur. Two ADA-accessible sites are available: site 31 without hookups and site 39 with full hookups. Beyond camping, the park encompasses 17 miles of Lake Norman shoreline and features the regionally renowned Itusi Trail system with nearly 31 miles of single-track for mountain biking. The St. Johns Road entrance provides 24-hour access for registered campers, and seasonal boat rentals are available at the swim beach area.

Located 40 miles north of Charlotte at 759 State Park Road, Troutman, NC 28166. The campground and boat launch can be accessed 24 hours via the St. Johns Road entrance.
