About

Woods Ferry Campground occupies a wooded floodplain along the east bank of the Broad River in the Enoree Ranger District of Sumter National Forest. The surrounding landscape features rolling piedmont hills with upland pine and maturing hardwood forests, creating a shaded canopy in summer. Wild azaleas, dogwoods, and honeysuckle grow throughout the forest, particularly near old homesites along the trails. The campground serves as a gateway to diverse recreation. The Broad River provides fishing and paddling opportunities with boat access 2 miles downstream at Neal Shoals Dam. The 26-mile Woods Ferry Horse Trail traverses the river corridor and hardwood drains, open to horses, hikers, and mountain bikers. The adjacent day-use area features picnic shelters and fishing platforms. Wildlife viewing includes red-shouldered hawks, great blue herons, osprey, wood ducks, barred owls, and American Bald Eagles along the river corridor. Designated horse campsites accommodate equestrians with highline areas marked by white-banded trees. The surrounding national forest lands offer hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, and small game. Campers must bring their own water and use vault toilets. All campsites are reservable through Recreation.gov at budget-friendly rates.
