About
White Wolf Campground occupies a forested setting at 8,000 feet along Yosemite's Tioga Road corridor, positioned between Crane Flat (23 miles west) and Tuolumne Meadows (25 miles east). The campground lies about a mile north of Tioga Road near the historic White Wolf Lodge, which may offer limited services when open. Sites accommodate tents and smaller RVs/trailers, with maximum lengths of 27 feet for RVs and 24 feet for trailers. The location serves as a base for exploring the High Sierra. Popular trails departing near the campground lead to Lukens Lake (an easy 2-mile round trip) and Harden Lake, while more ambitious hikers can access the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne. The Crane Flat area to the west provides access to Tuolumne and Merced Groves of Giant Sequoias. Tuolumne Meadows to the east opens up extensive high-country hiking and backpacking. The campground operates on a reservation system through Recreation.gov, with sites released on a rolling 2-week window at 7 AM Pacific time. Sites fill within minutes of release during peak summer months. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food storage locker. Campers should be prepared for high-elevation conditions including cold nights and afternoon thunderstorms.
Directions
From Tioga Pass (east entrance): Drive 24 miles west on Tioga Road (45 minutes). From Yosemite Valley: Take Big Oak Flat Road to Tioga Road, 31 miles total (approximately 1 hour). From Highway 120 west/Big Oak Flat entrance: Take Big Oak Flat Road to Tioga Road, 31 miles (35 minutes). The campground entrance is north of Tioga Road.
