Overview
Deception Pass State Park is Washington's most visited state park, spanning 4,134 acres across Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands, connected by the iconic Deception Pass Bridge. The park is currently open year-round (6:30am-dusk in winter, 8am-dusk other times) and requires a Discover Pass ($10 day/$45 annual). Currently, the park is operating under Level 1 burn ban (fires allowed in designated pits/grills). Important closures to note: Bowman Bay pier is closed indefinitely due to unsafe conditions, and the boat launch there is closed to trailered vessels (kayaks/canoes/SUPs still have access). The West Beach parking area is closed to vehicles over 25 feet due to winter storm damage, which also affects the Cranberry Lake boat launch area. Storm damage has also affected the trail between Lottie Point Loop and Lighthouse Point Loop at Bowman Bay. Water spigots in Quarry Pond Campground are turned off through mid-March. The park offers three main campgrounds plus boater-only sites, 35+ miles of trails including access to the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail, tide pools at Rosario Beach, and extensive water activities. The park features 14.6 miles of saltwater shoreline and three freshwater lakes.
