About

Obstruction Pass State Park occupies 76 acres on the southeastern shore of Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. The park's 9 primitive campsites sit along a forested ridge above a pebbly beach, reached by a half-mile trail from the parking area. The trail winds through a forest of Pacific madrone, Douglas fir, and Oregon white oak before descending to the camping area near the shoreline. Each campsite includes a fire pit and picnic table. Two composting toilets are located nearby. There is no potable water at the park; campers must bring all drinking water. The beach provides opportunities for beachcombing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. Harbor seals, river otters, and various seabirds frequent the waters of Obstruction Pass. The park also offers one Cascadia Marine Trail campsite for paddlers arriving by water, plus mooring buoys in the bay. A Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to the parking area.

Directions

Take the Washington State Ferry from Anacortes to Orcas Island. From the ferry landing at Orcas, drive east on Orcas Road, then south on Obstruction Pass Road following signs to the park. The parking area is at the road's end. Campsites require a half-mile walk from the parking lot.
