About

Cowboy Camp Campground is a secluded BLM campground perched on a ridge in the high desert mesas above Moab, Utah. The seven individual campsites offer striking panoramic views of the surrounding canyon country, making it an excellent base for exploring the region's renowned landscapes. The campground sits near the junction of Highway 313, which leads to both Canyonlands National Park's Island in the Sky district and Dead Horse Point State Park. This primitive campground is designed for tent camping and high-clearance vehicles only. RVs, trailers, and pull campers are prohibited due to the rugged access road. Each site accommodates up to 10 people and two vehicles, with amenities limited to a fire ring, picnic table, and access to vault toilets. There is no potable water, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The area features numerous 4WD roads and mountain bike routes for those seeking backcountry adventure. Camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis at $20 per night, payable at the self-service fee station with exact cash or check. The remote location and limited amenities attract campers seeking solitude away from the busier developed campgrounds closer to Moab.
