Grand View Point Closed for Construction Weekdays July 28 through September

Difficult Conditions Complicate Cataract Canyon Takeouts
Hite Ramp is closed. The North Wash take-out is a primitive, unimproved dirt take-out. You will not be able to back a trailer down the dirt slope. Recent washouts have further deteriorated conditions.
Expect Long Lines at Island in the Sky Entrance
Between March and November, particularly on busy holiday weekends, you may experience long lines at the entrance road. Parking lots at popular trailheads and viewpoints will fill early. Pack your patience and arrive early to avoid crowds.
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions in Effect
Fires are allowed only in designated fire grates in developed campgrounds & picnic areas, or charcoal in metal fire pans in the river corridor. (Remove all ash.) Smoking is allowed only inside cars or at paved areas. Fireworks are always prohibited.
About
Island in the Sky Campground, also known as Willow Flat Campground, is the only developed campground in the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park. Located approximately 7 miles from the entrance station, this small campground features 12 first-come, first-served sites that fill quickly during the popular spring through fall seasons. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, accommodating up to 10 people and 2 vehicles per site. The campground provides vault toilets and one ADA-accessible site with paved access. RVs and trailers are permitted with a maximum length of 28 feet. Campers must bring their own water, as none is available at the campground; drinking water is available outside the visitor center during spring through fall. Wood fires are allowed only in designated fire grates, and wood gathering is prohibited, so campers must bring their own firewood. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the Island in the Sky district, with the scenic Green River Overlook nearby. The area experiences typical high desert conditions with wide temperature fluctuations. Stage 1 fire restrictions are currently in effect, limiting fires to designated grates in the campground.
