Cottonwood Campground

Open — Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. Water systems are shut off for the winter season. Reservations are required May 15 through September 15.

Cottonwood Campground is located on the northeastern shore of Glendo Reservoir within Glendo State Park in Platte County, Wyoming. The campground features 14 campsites spread across three distinct areas, largely situated on sand within a cottonwood grove. Sites 1 through 6 are clustered together underneath a stand of cottonwood trees, with the campground's only vault toilet and water hydrant located near these sites. Sites 7 through 13 are positioned further east against a stand of cottonwood trees, offering at least partial shade. Site 14 is set apart from the main campground over a small hill, with a fairly exposed level camping area surrounded by trees. The campground's proximity to the water varies significantly with reservoir levels. From mid-May through mid-to-late July, campsites are a short walk from the water's edge, with cottonwoods and a sandy beach providing excellent access for swimming and water activities. During the rest of the year, as Cottonwood Cove drains or is in the process of draining, the campground becomes farther from the water. The campground is accessed by turning north just before the Sandy Beach Fee Booth and following a gravel road for half a mile. The sandy terrain and cottonwood trees create excellent picnicking opportunities and a pleasant camping environment during the warmer months.

From I-25, exit at the town of Glendo and head to Glendo State Park. Turn north just before the Sandy Beach Fee Booth and follow the gravel road for half a mile to reach Cottonwood Campground.
