Cottonshed Park
Open for camping and accepting reservations via Recreation.gov. Alligators are present in the lake; exercise caution near the water.
About
Cottonshed Park sits on the shores of Millwood Lake, eight miles southwest of Mineral Springs in Howard County, Arkansas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this 45-site campground occupies a quiet, wooded peninsula with direct access to the Saline River arm of the lake. The area is navigable via marked boat lanes that wind through submerged timber and aquatic vegetation, creating prime habitat for largemouth bass and crappie. Campsites are arranged across three loops (North Loop, Loop 1, and Loop 2) and feature 30/50 amp electric service, water hookups, picnic tables, grills, fire rings, and lantern poles. Both lakeside and lake-view sites are available. The campground provides flush toilets and showers throughout, potable water hydrants, and one centrally located dump station. Millwood Lake hosts over 300 bird species including American Bald Eagles and Great White Pelicans, many visible from the Cottonshed area. Anglers and duck hunters are drawn to the extensive submerged timber habitat. Campers should be aware that alligators are present in the lake. Old Washington Historic State Park is located 25 miles northeast for a historical day trip.
