About
Horseshoe Bend Park sits at the base of a 300-foot vertical cliff along the Saline River in the Ouachita Mountains of southwest Arkansas. The campground offers 12 class A sites directly on the riverfront, each with 50-amp electric and water hookups. The gravel driveways accommodate vehicles up to 45 feet, making it suitable for larger RVs. The park's main draw is the three-quarter-mile whitewater course built over native river stone with four challenging drops. When dam releases are flowing, the course produces Class II to IV rapids and serves as an excellent training location for paddlers. The park hosted Olympic kayak trials in the late 1990s. Day-use facilities include a group pavilion, playground, and picnic shelter. Crater of Diamonds State Park is 30 miles away in Murfreesboro, and Hot Springs National Park is about an hour's drive. The Choctaw Nation casino at Broken Bow, Oklahoma is also within an hour.
